How to Make Solo Ads Work for You

Tuesday, July 7, 2015
To make solo ads work really effectively requires a few precautions or tips. Anyone can sell lists of names with fantastic claims of success, but you don't see the results until you have paid your money, so buyer beware.
Buy your "list" from monitored websites, set up for the purpose. If you were planning a holiday you would choose an "Abta" protected travel agent, or book through a trusted agent like "Tripadvisor".
Buying solo ads is no different keep your money safe and guard against fraud. You don't want to waste your time either on unproductive lists. If you are looking for perhaps 500 clicks (people visiting your website) don't initially buy them all from the same seller, however good the offer seems. Test 50 or 100 first. When you buy a list you generally get a generous number of clicks so instead of 100 you may get 105; this helps to compensate as you may pay proportionally more for a small batch, but the overall risk is less if they don't perform as well as you hoped. When you are happy with the seller and you are happy with all aspects of your campaign you can reorder larger lists.
Solo ads work best with free gifts you are giving away in exchange for an email, rather than encouraging people to buy initially. Make sure your Free gift is amazing value to encourage trust and future orders. The thinking behind this; if Free offers are great, bought items should be amazing value, build your reputation.
On your thank you page include a one time offer maybe an e-Book or videos of high value about a must-have topic, offered for a few $, make it an irresistible price. The revenue from this will go towards the cost of the solo-ad to make your campaign self funding. Future profits will come from sales from your follow-up emails. (This will be discussed in another article).
The email sent to the solo-seller may be rewritten by him to suit his "list" better, but the email wording isn't too critical as it is an agreed number of clicks you are buying and the seller will continue until the number is delivered.
As a guide look for up-to a 40% click through rate to your free offer if it is a good product and a good list.
Now it is OK for me to make suggestions, but it is your product and your business, your customers and your chosen niche, so make decisions according to your results. TEST everything, begin small, don't squander your cash. Test and test again for the best results.
